The current library building from 1865 with its magnificent cast-iron staircase and battlement structure is one of the most remarkable and best-preserved library buildings from the 19th century in terms of cultural history and preservation of monuments, in the succession to the great Baroque monastic libraries. Today, the library has about 260,000 volumes.
